Clwb Hoffi Coffi - Boreau coffi/Coffee mornings

Well, Clwb Hoffi Coffi is underway. In essence Clwb Hoffi Coffi is a coffee morning held at London Road Seniors Club. The club is open for anyone to attend. The aim is to get people out and communicating with others. Also, there is an opportunity for those who attend to practice their Welsh skills in a relaxed and informal environment. A big DIOLCH to Ann Sperry for allowing us to use the centre on London Road.

The next bore coffi will be on Saturday the 28th of April 10am-12pm. Then the 12th of May. All for free! 

LRLP - London Road Litter Pickers

LRLP goes from strength to strength with new members having joined us recently. We collected 10 bags of discarded rubbish at the park on London Road - its such a shame that people find the need to throw rubbish at will at the expense of the area and environment. I'd like to thank everyone for their support. The club is also a great way to socialise and get people out and about, feel free to join us - especially with the weather being warmer.

The next Litter Picking session will be on Sunday the 29th of April 2pm-3pm - we'll be meeting by Craig y Wylan on London Road!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas is almost upon us! I'm not sure about everyone else but as every I'm under prepared and needless to say will be rushing around like a headless chicken on the 24th! Some things will never change...

It's been quite a year, in many different ways! It is a great honour to serve our community here in London Road. I was raised in Cecil Street as a youngster and have so many fond memories of the place. 

I would often be found cycling on my push bike all the way from Cecil Street via the back lanes to Garden Place, usually using it as a weapon of mass destruction as I'd crash into walls!

Since being elected Keith Thomas and I have been active in the communty. We have sought to bring a new politics to the Town Council and to bring the councillors closer to the very people who elect them! Change will take longer than I'd initially anticipated but it will come. It's time to move Holyhead forward.

We have established the London Road Litter Pickers who meet on Sunday’s to litter pick the local area – feel free to join us! 

 

Another highlight was heloing establish Yarnbombers Caergybi, Sandra Jones and the crew led the way and have done wonders already. Yarnbombers Caergybi have recently moved home and can now be fround at Caffi Mon in London Road. A huge DIOLCH to Tez and all at the cafe for allowing us the use of a room for FREE!

Holyhead may be a town poor in pocket at times but it is a town rich in kindness, warmth and community.

In July we held the London Road Barbacue at the play area on London Road itself. As a Town Councillor I have been invited to many different events, from the moving but rather windy Remembrance Sunday to the various Christmas Fayre's dotted around the town, and much more in between.

 

We have also attended to the needs of residents in the ward who have brought various issue to our attention.

We look forward to the year ahead and continuing to serve our community.

Yarnbombing - Remembrance Sunday

As we know Remembrance Sunday is almost upon us. Recently working with local yarnbombing and kniting enthusiasts the Yarnbombers Caergybi group was established. The group has been going from strength to strength (and is still in its early days) with Sandra Jones, Kerry Hughes and Gladys Pritchard (among others) leading the way.

The group meets weekly at the Catholic Lounge (Ty Mair) next to the Roman Catholic Church on Saturday's from 10am til 4pm.  I'd like to thank Mr Ken Jones also for preparing the hall for us as well as the church locally.

The aim of the group was two-fold. One simply to get people out and about and talking! Secondly, and as a bonus, to yarnbomb Holyhead!

the action or activity of covering objects or structures in public places with decorative knitted or crotcheted material, as a form of street art.

It was decided that the first project would be to work on something for Remembrance Sunday. Earlier today I met the team in town and together we arranged a poppy display opposite the cenotaph. It looks absolutely amazing and is in place ready for Sunday the 12th of Novemeber.  I'd advise anyone to take a look, it's well worth it! The work and effort that has gone into this project has been amazing.

I would like to pay a personal tribute to the team and praise them for their dedication! Many more projects are planned for the future including a St. David's Day theme for March the 1st to coincide with the second every St. David's Day Parade we're holding in Holyhead. Why not join in? Individuals of all ages and abilities welcome to attend and a warm welcome is guaranteed.
