Well, we said we'd be proactive and much to the surprise and shock of many we've kept to our word. Cllr Keith Thomas and I established the London Road Litter Pickers (LRLP) group. We've held numerous sessions, normally on a Sunday afternoon in different parts of London Road Ward. Thanks so much to those who've volunteered their time and being willing to muck in.
Whilst I accept street cleaning isn't going to change the world, it's a way of us showing respect in our community and for our community, improving the environment in which we all live.The main issues seemed to be dog/cat fouling on or near to pavements, the other issue seemed to be used condoms being left on the pavement.
There is also an issue of fly-tipping at the bottom of Gilbert Street and in the back lanes behind the main road itself. I must thank the County Council for their prompt response so far once they've been alerted to the issue.Another team will be out this Sunday 11th of June meeting at 2pm by Marchog.
